I’m always slightly suspicious of wellness ‘trends’, as finding health and wellbeing practices that work for you should be a long-term goal rather than a trend. However, if you’re still hunting for the perfect fit to make you feel good, checking out what has got people buzzing can be worthwhile. Maybe you’ll find some inspiration to try something new (or a cool new buzzword for something you’re already doing).

Health & Wellness Trends 2023

Low Intensity Workouts

Goodbye HIIT, hello LIW! People are realising that slowly moving your body feels great, rather than short bursts of highly intense, punishing workouts. Think long walks, swimming, yoga and stretching.

Early Bird Special

While intermittent fasting remains popular for 2023, if you’re not convinced that eating within a strict window is for you, try moving your dinner time earlier. The benefits? More time for your food to digest before bedtime, resulting in a better sleep.

Digital Detox

Taking a break from social media and technology is getting more appealing every day, and the digital detox is going to be growing in popularity next year. Turning your phone to flight mode in the evenings, setting screen time limits and deleting apps from your phone at certain times are all first steps in the process.

Going Out More

We’ve all gotten used to staying in a lot more since the pandemic, but people might now be about to push back against insular home lives and start going out a lot more in 2023. Finding new ways to connect, trying new hobbies and being open to meeting new people are all on the ‘yes’ list.

Zero Waste Lifestyle

As we all strive to live a more eco-friendly life and do better for the planet, upcycled food will be one of the health trends of the year. While there are sure to be lots of social media-friendly ways to get involved in this wellness trend, essentially this means wasting less food, using up leftovers, and making sure as little as possible makes it into the bin. Check out my book Eat Beautiful for ideas on how to base your meals around fresh, seasonal foods that are in abundance.

Here’s wishing you a happy and healthy 2023!
