Back to School: Work Makeup Bag

Don’t let the back-to-school blues get you down. September is the perfect time to recharge your beauty regime, and that means re-pepping your makeup bag for a fresh start at work. Out with the old and in with the new, this look means business…

There’s always something great about the start of the new season, even when it spells the end of a summer of fun. I love the chance to wipe the slate clean and get stuck into new projects with a fresh energy. However, back to school means no more easy breezy beach beauty, so it’s time for a makeup refresh for the new season, too. So, if you’re looking for the best work makeup bag to put the spring back into your step, here are my favourites.

TOP TIP: If you work in an office and frequently have to go straight to events or out after work, create a mini replica of your home makeup kit and keep it in your desk at work rather than carrying your makeup bag around everywhere with you. The below kit is the perfect cover-all-bases kit to refresh your makeup straight from your desk.

Work Makeup: My Picks

The Bag: Bobbi Brown Velvet Cosmetics Case
Pick a small and chic makeup bag that you’ll be happy seeing on your desk every day and that you can throw into a bag easily if you need to. This velvet case is a timeless classic.

The Foundation: Surratt Dew Drop Foundation

Brand new for September, this gorgeous Suratt foundation gives a medium coverage that is great for everyday wear, with a dewy, hydrating finish that looks fresh and glowing.

The Brush: Artis Palm Brush Mini

The perfect on-the-go makeup brush, this professional standard makeup brush can be used for applying foundation, concealer, blush, highlight, bronze or powder. It blends seamlessly every time so it’s great if you have no access to a mirror.

The Concealer: Kevyn Aucoin The Etherealist Super Natural Concealer

Super-lightweight, this blendable concealer melts into skin to mask imperfections and blemishes. It can be used to cover uneven skin tones or erase dark circles and it’s great for touching up on the go. Shop my pick of the best concealers here.

The Cheek Colour: Glossier Cloud Paint

This light gel-cream formula by Glossier is so easy to use and can be used on lips and lids as well as cheeks. I love the shade Haze, but there’s something for everyone in the range.

The Mascara: Max Factor 2000 Calorie Waterproof Mascara

Having a decent waterproof mascara in your work kit is an essential. I love this 2000 Calorie Waterproof Mascara, which is always in my kit. You should also add in some lash curlers for extra lift.

The Lipstick: Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo

For the office, you want a soft, hydrating lip colour that’s super easy to touch-up throughout the day. This Hourglass Lip Stylo is enriched with shea butter, jojoba, mimosa, and sunflower seed oils so it keeps lips soft and moisturised. The pen design makes it really easy for touching up on the go, too.
