A fly and flop beach break is no longer quite good enough when it comes to me-time on holiday! With the wellness travel trend gaining ground, more and more of us are opting for a spa break or wellness retreat to get some R&R when we get time off from work. I am always looking for the best spas in Europe that I can either fit into a work visit for a facial or massage, or book myself into for a break when I get a rare few days off. Drawing on advice from friends, clients and industry contacts, this is my round-up of the best spas in Europe for treatments right now…
Best Spas in Europe for Treatments
Susanne Kaufmann Spa Bezau
If you’ve read any of my articles or follow me on Instagram you’ll know that Susanne Kaufmann is one of my absolute favourite beauty brands. I love her botanical-based products and all-natural approach to beauty, so it’s no surprise that her spa in Austria is top of my list for spa destinations in Europe! Located in Kaufmann’s hotel, the Hotel Post Bezau, the treatments on offer in the award-winning spa combine old and new therapeutic techniques and are tailored to every individual’s needs.
Daylesford Bamford Haybarn Spa
Located in the Cotswolds, this wellness retreat is about more than just a good massage or clarifying facial. Focusing on the human connection with nature, the spa offers treatments and activities that nurture inner peace, from yoga and meditation to relaxing beauty treatments using gorgeous organic products. If you’re staying on-site in one of the gorgeous cottages you can also make the most of the on-site cookery school or programme of workshops.
Lanserhof Lans, Austria
If you’re hoping to come back from your next wellness retreat a few pounds lighter, with glowing skin and a more serene outlook on life, you might want to book yourself in to Lanserhof in Austria, the pick of the medi-beauty bunch. Set in stunning surroundings, Lanserhof takes a holistic approach to naturopathy and modern medicine and can offer completely tailored programmes, whatever your goals. They’re also taking up residence at the London Arts Club this year if you don’t want to travel out of the UK.
SHA Wellness Clinic, Spain
The SHA Wellness Clinic, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea between Altea and Sierra Helada, offers a number of wellness programs to target specific needs such as weight-loss, quitting smoking or improving sleep, or you can simply participate in the general wellness or fitness programs. It’s a great option if you’re looking to completely rejuvenate your skin, as the clinic offers a range of pioneering technology-led treatments.
