SS19 Scents: New Perfumes I Love

Spring might not quite have arrived, but SS19 is well on its way so it’s time to pack away those heavy winter scents and refresh your perfume collection with something lighter. When it comes to perfume it’s really easy to reach for a tried and trusted signature scent time and time again, but I love nothing more than being introduced to new fragrances, especially by industry friends. Here are a few new favourites (and a couple of classics) for the new season…

Whether or not the weather is telling us so, spring is decidedly in the air (when it comes to the fashion and beauty worlds, at least!). With this in mind, now is a great time to pack away those heavy, intoxicating winter perfumes and pull out some fresh new fragrances. There are plenty of new scents on the market to inspire you, and here are a few of my favourites for SS19.

8 of the Best New Perfumes for 2019

  1. Acqua di Parma Colonia Pura

The perfect unisex fragrance, this fresh floral is a great choice for spring, with notes of bergamot, narcissus and white musk, plus a hint of sweet, juicy orange.

  2. Tom Ford Private Blend Reserve Velvet Gardenia

Tom Ford is rereleasing a host of his original and beloved limited edition fragrances for a brand new Private Blend Reserve collection. A lot of people are very excited about Tom Ford Private Blend Reserve Velvet Gardenia, which the designer was originally to create by the gardenias he wore (and wears still) on the lapels of his tuxedos.

  3. Narciso Rodriguez Pure Musc

As Narciso Rodriguez says: ‘Musc is like an addiction, its power is both cerebral and emotional, yet it’s not overpowering, it’s subtle.’ This soft feminine fragrance is brand new for this season and is a combination of white florals and precious woods.

  4. Les Exclusifs De Chanel 1957

New for this season, Chanel celebrates the year 1957 with its new fragrance, the year of Gabrielle Chanel’s consecration in America. Formed of eight white musks with floral notes of bergamot, iris and neroli, woody notes of cedar, powdery accents and a hint of honey, this is a really light and breezy spring scent.

  5. Glossier You

Have you read my post introducing you to my favourite picks from the Glossier brand? The signature perfume from the beauty brand of the moment is a clean, warm scent that is subtle enough to wear at any time of year. I have to be careful not to wear anything too overpowering since I work so closely to clients, and this is a great option.

  6. Jo Malone London Wild Flowers & Weeds

Jo Malone London’s limited-edition collections always have some really interesting notes, and this spring’s Wild Flowers & Weeds collection will include Nettle & Wild Achillea and Cade & Cedarwood. They’re the sort of fragrances that if you fall in love with them you need to stock up while you can, as they don’t bring them back.

  7. Perfumer H Rain Cloud

If you can get hold of a bottle, Rain Cloud by Perfumer H (by Lyn Harris) is the perfect spring/summer fragrance. The summer 2016 edition from bespoke fragrance brand Perfumer H, I don’t let my bottle out of my sight! With yland ylang, vetiver, vanilla bourbon and orange flower, it really does smell like a sweet, fresh rain cloud.

  8. Byredo Eleventh Hour

This is a really calming scent from Byredo, inspired by the notion of restored harmony. It’s a great winter to spring transition scent, with notes of ban timmur, bergamot, carrot seeds, rum and wild fig, and a base of cashmere woods and tonka bean. Sweet and spicy, it’s a good option if soft feminine fragrances aren’t for you.
