Shine On: Best Highlighters

I’m often referred to as a ‘master of nudes’ when it comes to skin, and there’s nothing I love more than healthy-looking skin that has a really gorgeous glow. This glow should ideally come from within, but sometimes you have to fake it to make it! If you’re looking to give your skin a little extra radiance in a hurry, check out my edit of the best highlighters…

There’s nothing better than gorgeous glowing skin that has a natural radiance, especially at this time of year. The best way to achieve that natural glow is through good skincare (such as learning how to properly cleanse your skin and by using the best moisturisers), and by eating the freshest, seasonal foods (as detailed in my book Eat Beautiful). But that’s kind of a long game, so if you’re after a quick fix, or simply looking to enhance your radiance this year, using a highlighter is a great idea. Not sure where to start? 5 of the Best Highlighters

Max Factor Miracle Glow Universal Highlighter

The perfect option for giving your complexion that all-over glow, this multi-tasking pro can either be worn as an illuminating skin base, be mixed in with your foundation to give a more dewy skin finish, or used as a standalone highlighter as a finishing touch.

Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base

Sometimes the best highlighters are not actually highlighters at all! I always have Burberry’s Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base in my kit; when used under foundation, or even on its own, it gives skin a gorgeous natural glow. You can even mix it with your favourite cream blush or bronze for a more luminous finish.

Ilia Illuminator in Polka Dots and Moonbeams

If you want something really easy to use when it comes to a highlighter, this Ilia stick illuminator should be top of your list. Simply use as the last step in your makeup routine and apply to cheekbones, brow bones, the inner corner of your eyes, the bridge of your nose and even the pout of your lower lip.

NARS The Multiple in Orgasm

Some products have had cult status for years and years, and NARS The Multiple is one of them. It’s a blush or bronze-meets-highlighter that adds colour and shine in one easy stick. It’s a great pack-one-item makeup option for the beach, as it can also be used on eyes and lips.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish

If you’re looking for an all-over shimmer rather than contoured perfection, this MAC skinfinish gives a lovely natural-looking radiance, when applied with a large powder brush. Sweep across the entire face and shoulders and décolleté for a sun-kissed glow.
