There tend to be two camps when it comes to cleansing. Some people like to go the squeaky-clean route with foaming cleansers combined with micellar water and toning solutions. The other option is ‘melt-away’ cleansers, which tend to be oil-based, and work by binding to makeup, dirt and other surface impurities that can then be wiped easily away for clean skin that’s left hydrated. Personally, I don’t tend to use many oil-based cleansers as they’re a little greasy for my complexion, however, there are plenty of people who they’re the best option for.

People often make the mistake of thinking that oily or blemish-prone skin types should avoid cleansing oils, but in fact stripping the skin of hydration and natural oils will make your skin panic and produce extra sebum; so if you have either of these skin types, it might be worth giving one of the below a try.
Best Cleansing Oils
One of the best treatment cleansers on the market, this oil-based balm has a cult following. Mix with a little water and massage into skin to gently melt away the day’s makeup and dirt and wipe away with the cloth. There’s even an exfoliating double side to the cloth for an extra skin boost.
Free from sulphates and mineral oils, this Caudalie cleansing oil is a great choice for sensitive skin types. The sweet almond and grape seed oils smell great and leave skin clean and clear and slightly glowy.
Add a dash of water to this silky oil cleanser before massaging it into skin so you can see exactly where it’s working. Great for dry or combination skin types, this will remove even waterproof makeup.
As well as melting away the day’s dirt and makeup, this Sarah Chapman classic boasts a host of anti-ageing properties, too. An omega-rich formula with collagen stimulating peptides, vitamin A and antioxidants, this cleanser packs a powerful punch.
