Trend: Purple Hues For Summer

As we emerge from lockdown it’s time to add a little colour to your look and get experimental with your makeup. We’re all looking for little ways to lift our mood at the moment and if something as simple as a pop of colour in your makeup bag can help, why not give it a go?

If you’re looking to step up your style after a year of dressing down, makeup is a great place to start. One trend from the catwalks and awards season this year has been purple eyeshadow, and while it might sound scary, it can actually be a really flattering choice. So, if you’re brave enough to trial purple makeup hues, consider this your guide!

It was chosen by the likes of Dua Lipa and H.E.R at this year’s Grammy Awards, but purple eyeshadow is not just to be reserved for the red carpet. It’s actually a really flattering shade on pretty much every skin tone; lighter skin tones should opt for pale lilac and pinky purples while darker skin tones will look great with pretty much all purple tones. Bold, shimmering or holographic colours are great for the evening, but soft purple eyeshadow works for creating a modern take on a smoky eye. If you want to start small, try a purple eyeliner rather than a shadow. Try these on for size.
