The trend for radiant, glowing skin has gone from strength to strength over the last decade or so, with healthy-looking radiant skin gradually making way for a touch of shimmer to all-out reflective shine and the glass-skin trend. But now the need for glow is focusing in on the eye area. Using traditional highlighting techniques to add shine to accentuate certain areas, the eyelighter technique creates brighter, wider, more brilliant eyes. Think pearly, pale shadows or shimmering metallics worn in the corner of eyes to make them pop; these techniques are perfect for party season and beyond.
What Is Eyelighter?
Eyelighter makeup techniques are all about creating an eye-opening effect using a wash of iridescent eye shadow, or your usual radiant highlighting products. You can even add a little of your illuminating base into your foundation or shadow of choice to add glow to the eye area. The key to really tapping into the eyelighter trend is to opt for an icy pearlescent hue that will reflect the light and brighten the eye area. Ready to give eyelighting a go? TOP TIP: As well as a pearly shadow on the lids (you can use on upper and lower lids), brighten the entire eye area using a product such as MILK Makeup Sunshine Under Eye Tint + Brighten to erase any shadows and further enhance eyes. You should also try and eye mask such as Sarah Chapman’s Skinesis Platinum Stem Cell Eye Mask to improve the overall skin texture and tone.
