What is CBD Oil?
CBD is short for cannabidiol, which is extracted from the cannabis stavia plant. It is not to be confused with another popular compound extracted from the plant, THC, which is the one with the ability to get you stoned. So that’s the first thing you need to know, CBD oil products cannot get you high! But it is hugely useful as a beauty ingredient, because it has vitamins A, D and E, anti-inflammatory properties and essential fatty acids. Sounds more like a superfood than a drug, right?
CBD Oil in Beauty
The anti-inflammatory and pain-killing properties of CBD oil are what makes it an appealing prospect for the beauty industry. Inflammation is at the root of the majority of skin conditions, including dry skin, psoriasis, acne, ageing and eczema, so the ingredient can be helpful in treating all of these. Studies have shown that CBD helps suppress breakouts by regulating oil production, meaning it’s a good alternative treatment option if your skin isn’t suited to retinoids or other harsher alternatives.
