Crazy for Coconuts

There's not much that hasn't been said about coconut as a dietary miracle food, but for me the real sell of the oil and water of the coconut lies in its skin beautifying powers.

I eat and use coconuts for pretty much everything – such an all-round multi-tasker. As a post-workout drink, coconut water is better than anything you can buy from a shop; it contains the perfect balance of natural electrolytes – sodium, calcium, magnesium and potassium – all of which work to replace lost fluids and salts in minutes. Skin can’t retain its natural radiance without proper hydration, so choosing coconut water over regular water – or sugary drinks – provides a hit of beautifying nutrients and deep rehydration. Using coconut oil topically on the skin is brilliant thanks to its natural antibacterial and nourishing properties; it helps reduce acne-causing bacteria, making it perfect for neutralising inflamed skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema too. The powerful anti-oxidative properties that work to restore skin’s natural glow, while also boosting the metabolism, reducing bloating and helping the body to burn sugar faster. I always choose a fresh, cold-pressed and organic option – my favourite coconut water is the one from Cocoface, who supply Roots & Bulbs for my bespoke Pure Skin juice. If coconuts aren’t a part of your beautifying routine give them a go, and watch the radiance return to your skin as you do.

My pick…
