The minimalist makeup trend is all about enhancing your natural features and achieving a fresh, understated look. It’s about letting your skin shine through and using makeup to subtly enhance, rather than mask, your features. Here are my top tips for getting the look at home.

Prep Your Skin

You should be used to me saying this by now: great makeup starts with great skin! Start with a good skincare routine to ensure your skin is well-hydrated and smooth before applying any makeup, and support this with a healthy, balanced diet and plenty of water.

Less Is More

When applying makeup, don’t use too much product. Use a light hand and build up the product gradually to keep the look natural.

Enhance Your Features

Instead of trying to change your features, use makeup to enhance what you already have. This could mean adding a touch of highlighter to your cheekbones or defining your eyes with a subtle coat of mascara, rather than going for dramatic sculpting or overlining lips.

Keep it Simple

Stick to a neutral colour palette that is made up of soft, earthy tones for your eyes and lips to complement the minimalist makeup aesthetic perfectly.
