At this time of year, it’s the perfect time to start transitioning into a golden goddess or a bronzed beauty. Some people are scared of bronze tones because of the association with metallic shimmer and sparkle, but while silvers and golds can be tricky to pull off, soft bronze tones work really well on all skin tones. Want to dip your toe in the bronze makeup trend? Here are three ways to get you started.

How to Wear Bronze Makeup

SKIN

If you avoid colour on your lids and cheeks but you’d like to trial the trend (just a little), keep your summer tan going longer by adding a hint of bronze to your base colour. Take your favourite foundation and mix in a few drops of Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Highlighting Fluid, to give skin an all-over bronzed glow.

CHEEKS

Bronzer might be a summer favourite, but bronze tones work on the cheeks at any time of year. Rather than a heavy sweep of bronzer all over, however, to master this trend create sculpting highlights and bronze contours. I love Tom Ford’s Bronzer, sweep a little across the top of cheeks and the bridge of the nose for a natural sun-kissed bronze look that will work at any time of year. Alternatively, invest in a palette such as the NARS Summer Solstice Eyeshadow Palette, which features bronze tones for lids and cheeks – the highlighter has just a hint of shimmer and will create a bronzed goddess finish in a couple of well-placed brush strokes. I also love the Glossier Haloscope for creating easy dewy bronze highlights.

EYES

So many people are afraid of wearing colour on their eyelids, but bronze makeup is the perfect look to get experimental with, because the warm, shimmering hues are flattering on all skin tones. Your best option is to invest in a bronze palette and see what works best for you, from warm tangerine shimmer to cool, metallic bronze. You can either sweep your chosen colour across the entire lid, work your bronze shadow into a smoky eye look for evening, or even just add a hint of sparkling bronze to the inner corners of your eyes to brighten up your look. Try the Huda Beauty Topaz Obsessions Palette.
