I know only too well how much hard work goes into creating the perfect red carpet look, so it is no surprise to me how many column inches the resulting pictures get! I always love looking at the beauty looks from awards season, and this year there have been some pretty major makeup looks to enjoy. I’ve picked a stand-out look from each show so you can be inspired, too. Here are my pick of the best awards season beauty looks for 2019.
Awards Season Beauty Looks: 4 of the Best
Golden Globes: Lupita Nyong’o
Makeup by: Nick Barose
Nick went for an 80s vibe for Lupita’s Golden Globes makeup look with blue lashes and red lips. This bold colour combination might not work for everyone but there’s no doubt Lupita pulls it off! Nick used Lancome Drama Liqui Pencil in Cote d Azur and Lashify Gossamer Royal Blue fake lashes for this statement look.
Grammys: Lady Gaga
Makeup by: Sarah Tanno
She might have scooped an Oscar this year, but it was her Grammys beauty look that I loved this season. Makeup artist Sarah Tanno said: ‘I wanted her makeup to look lived in. A messy black liner smudged imperfectly. I used Marc Jacobs Blacquer Highliner Gel Crayon on the outer corners top and bottom and smudged the liner so it looked like I put it on yesterday.’
BAFTAs: Lily Collins
Makeup by: Lisa Eldridge
In case you needed a case for the berry matte lip, Lily Collins’ BAFTA beauty look was absolutely flawless. With long, separated lashes to give a super-feminine wide-eyed look teamed with a vampy red lip, it was the perfect mix of sweet and spice. The lipstick in question is Lancome L’Absolu Rouge Matte in Berry Noir.
Oscars: Olivia Colman
Makeup by: Sarah Uslan
It was so great to see Olivia Colman picking up the well-deserved Best Actress Oscar, and her acceptance speech was one of the highlights of this year’s awards. Olivia’s makeup was also one of my favourite looks, she had absolutely gorgeous glowing, radiant skin. Her Oscars makeup look is a great example of exactly what works on mature skin, and makeup artist Sarah Uslan picked the absolute perfect Pat McGrath lipstick for her skin tone.
