Time to change it up

As the seasons change, it’s important to change things up - your wardrobe, your diet and also your skincare – especially your moisturiser. Here are some of my favourites for Spring…

After the harsh, cold weather conditions and central heating overload during winter, skin can be a little dry and dehydrated coming into Spring; it can also be extra sensitive with the change of temperature and pollens in the air.

I always think about changing your skincare in the same way as changing your coat for the seasons. Just as you would swap your warm winter coat for a lightweight jacket as the seasons change, you should also change your skincare too.

You might go for something richer and more nourishing in winter for example and switch to something lighter for the Spring and Summer months.

Here are some great options for Spring:

Skin Products
  1. Decleor Harmonie Calm Soothing Light Cream

This is one of my all time, trusted favourites as I can always be sure it will be fine to use on sensitive skin. The rose extract has a soothing, calming effect on the skin and the texture is lightweight and milky, perfect for Spring months and suitable for all skin types.

  2. Jurlique Calendula Redness Rescue Soothing Moisturising Cream

Calendula extract is an effective natural ingredient used for soothing and protecting skin as well as nourishing and balancing it when it gets very dry. This is a great option particularly if you suffer from dry, chapped skin.

  3. Tata Harper Repairative Moisturiser

I love Tata Harper’s organic skincare and this repairative moisturiser is perfect for dehydrated, irritated skin. It’s hydrating, soothing and repairative – great for hydrating and plumping more mature skin.

  4. Kiehls Rosa Arctica Lightweight Cream

This Kiehls cream is great for firming and hydrating skin and smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. The cream is formulated with the Resurrection Flower (which does what it says on the tin!) and it also contains Lavender Oil to soothe any sensitivities.

  5. Darphin Intral Soothing Cream

This cream from Darphin is super gentle and perfect for sensitive, irritated skin. Formulated without synthetic colourants or preservatives it is designed to hydrate and alleviate any redness in the skin.

  6. Susanne Kaufmann Face Fluid Line A

The Line A Face Fluid is a lightweight, anti-ageing moisturiser designed to boost the skins collagen and elasticity, containing silk proteins to moisturise and smooth the skin. It sinks into the skin quickly – great if you are in a rush.

  7. Sisley Restorative Facial Cream

This cream is great if your skin needs a bit of extra nourishment after winter – or if you’re outdoors a lot or fresh off the ski slopes. This cream is a deeply replenishing, reparative formula, containing Shea Butter to inject some moisture back into the skin without being too heavy.

  8. Emma Hardie Protect and Prime SPF 30

If you have blemish-prone skin and prefer something non-greasy and lightweight, then this Prime and Protect formula from Emma Hardie is a great option. It contains Mongono Oil, Oat Extract and Vitamin E and the formula is specifically designed to blur the appearance of imperfections and enlarged pores.

  9. Sarah Chapman Dynamic Defence SPF 15

If you are concerned with pigmentation and the first signs of skin damage, then try this moisturiser from Sarah Chapman. It contains SPF 15 as well as rose, jasmine and hyacinth extract to soothe and repair, as well as antioxidant omega oils, shea butter and vitamin A to protect, brighten and replenish the skin.

  10. Decleor Rose D Orient Night Balm

This balm from Decleor is something I have used at work for years – I call it my SOS balm. The balm is 100% natural and contains Neroli and Rose essential oils to calm any irritations and soothe the skin. It also contains Almond extract, Rice Wax and Beeswax to nourish and protect. Apply the balm to any area of red, irritated skin – it’s best to apply the balm at night-time to cleansed skin as that’s the time the skin naturally repairs itself, but you can use as a topical ointment on clean skin in emergencies too – try to leave it on as long as possible.
