I’ve been directing makeup for the Burberry shows for more than a decade, and by now it’s a well-oiled machine, with everything perfectly planned in advance. My team knows how I like the makeup to look – it has to feel effortless and wearable – but whether the look is simple or involved, my kit needs to be ready for anything. Models can turn up straight off an international flight, or their skin might be a bit sensitive after doing back-to-back shows, so I have to respond accordingly, ensuring I have the full spectrum of base shades too. My most trusted tools and products are with me at every show, as well as the must-haves I need to get myself ready for when the photographers and beauty editors arrive. Nothing beats the energy backstage before a big show – after months of planning and all the work on the day – the show itself is always such a great reward at the end of it all.
